Who They Are
Shoes for Education (S4E) provides shoes to youth in need, but takes it a step further — it also provides a valuable opportunity for personal growth.
Children living in households with less than a $70,000 annual income can sign up at shoesforeducation.org to read and summarize one of the personal development books listed on the website in order to receive a free pair of shoes. The organization’s goal is to empower underprivileged youth with confidence and an abundance mindset through this process.
What They Do
As we mentioned above, the S4E program provides free shoes to children who read and summarize a self-help or business book. But why summarize? S4E asks for either a written or video-recorded summary because when children read with the goal of explaining what they learned to another person, they’re more likely to retain the information.
Whenever the child wears their new shoes, S4E hopes they are reminded of how they earned them and feel inspired to apply the principles they learned to their daily life.
How We’re Helping
